There has been no official name given to the world of Final Fantasy Versus XIII, nor has there been any official name given to the city in which the trailer takes place. However, this city has been nick named the "Dark City" from it's dark, gloomy appearance. Final Fantasy Versus XIII is set in an environment more closely resembling our modern day world. The city in the trailers we have seen so far have actually been designed based on modern day cities in Japan. This world is caught in a Cold War between two great nations with our un-named protagonist on one side. He is the last remaining member of a royal family which controls the last crystal in existance and an opposing nation are attacking him in massive numbers to obtain it.
One of our forum members HBJ5, has found a leaked version of the Final Fantasy Versus XIII Trailer shown at Jump Festa 2007 which has never seen public eyes outside of Square-Enix's evil Closed Mega Theater. We're not sure where this video has been leaked from but we can only thank the Photobucket user a thousand times for uploading it for us. Thank god they have a good quality camera. From what we can tell, this isn't the complete trailer but is a good portion of it. The music is apparently from the final boss battle in Lost Oddyssey but I don't remember it. This trailer like all the rest is 100% CG
Square-Enix have released their Tokyo Game Show lineup for this years event in October. Their TGS website shows that Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII will all be attending the show, but none of them will be in playable form. This is hardly surprising and it seems as though we'll have to wait until March to get our hands on it in playable form. There is no mention of the Closed Mega Theatre which could be a good thing, although as every FFXIII fans knows, getting your hopes up at these events will often leave you disappointed. Let's hope they show something new as well as making it available for everyone to watch.
